The company's photographers will be located throughout the race course, capturing the accomplishments of your big day. Athletes can visit their site and order a variety of products, including prints, photo packages, mousepads, notecards and digital files. MyRacePics.com offers the quickest shipping in the business, guaranteed in four days. MyRacePics dares you to race to their website after the race and before they get the photos online to get a free digital picture of your great accomplishment!
When to be in Sedona You should plan to arrive in Sedona no later than the day before the race.
Race packet pick-up will take place the
day before the race at the pick-up area, located at the Patio Del Norte upper balcony and Sala De Los Milagros room of Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village at 336 Highway 179 · Sedona AZ
(map).
Pick-up times are on:
Friday Feb. 6 from 10:00 am to
9:00 pm.
Each entrant is responsible for picking up his or her race packet. No one will be allowed to pick up a race number (bib) for a friend or family member. See the related FAQ's entry for more information.
High altitude acclimatization The elevation at the edge of the Colorado Plateau in Sedona can challenge anyone coming from a lower altitude, so come ahead of time and relax and acclimatize. To enjoy the beautiful surroundings you
should spend another couple days to a week in the area. For details check our things
To Do/See page.
Every person reacts differently to higher elevations. People are generally affected by gaining more than 3,000 feet of elevation in a day, which coincidentally is the drive from Phoenix (1,500ft) to Sedona (4,500ft). In addition, the Sedona area is drier than many parts of the United States. Drinking plenty of fluids and eating well-rounded meals is a must in our robust climate. Take some time to adjust to the higher elevation and enjoy visiting the thousands of things you
can see and do in the area.
Race Start/ Race running time/official course time Race start time is 8am
Mountain Standard Time and the race closes 6 hours later.
Runners will be timed with an AMB
transponder You
cannot use your own timing chip (ChampionChip,
Winning Time, etc.) for this event. The
ONLY timing chips that will work with
the timing system that CEP Timing uses
is the AMB transponder (chip) that you
will be issued at packet pick-up. This is the same timing system that is
used to chip time the marathon in the
Olympics and the only chip timing system
to be allowed to be used for ANY timed
competition in the Olympic Games. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU WEAR THE
STRAP/CHIP ON YOUR ANKLE FOR THE ENTIRE
RACE OR YOU WILL NOT BE TIMED WITHOUT
IT! NO CHIP = NO

Hydration Stations
and
Refreshments
Refreshments will be provided at select intervals on the out and back routing of the course. You will pass the same stations on the way back as you used on the way out.
Dropping out of the race If you know you cannot finish, notify a course volunteer (bicyclist, horseback rider, aid station volunteer, med station volunteer, etc). Give your name and bib number for notification to the finish line and ask for a sweep vehicle to pick you up. If you know you must drop out of the race and have someone to pick you up, you must turn in your timing chip to recovery point for all chips. Otherwise you will be charged a fee for not returning your chip
Runner Etiquette The Sedona Marathon expects to welcome both novice and experienced marathoners. Whether you are in search of your personal best time, or just want the mystical experience of Sedona, we welcome you. And we want you to have the most rewarding experience you can - so with that in mind, respect your fellow runners and all the volunteers working for you.
Some thoughts to keep in mind when you are on the course:
If you need to slow down for any reason - to eat, drink, relieve a cramp - move to the side of the course. Watch out for people behind you.
Move to the side if the person behind you calls out, "Coming through or "Excuse me." Follow classic race protocol for passing.
If using a cell phone or camera, move to the side and then stop until you are done.
At fluid stations, move over gradually if you are taking a beverage. There will generally be more than one table at each station, on one side of the road, so you do not need to crowd to the first table.
When done with your beverage or refreshment, for instance when discarding trash, keep in mind that you are not in a city with plenty of sanitation workers, but reliant on volunteers keeping their small town and wilderness pristine. Toss your trash gently toward the receptacles on the side of the road. Keep an eye out for volunteers who will help direct your trash. Make sure you do not hit other participants with your trash.
In some places, the course may be crowded. Do your best not to push or bump into your fellow marathoners. Good Luck and Great Racing!!
