Background
The Sedona Marathon is the continuation of the Four Winds Adventures mission:
To provide athletes throughout the US and around the world the opportunity to experience the ultimate in physical, mental, and personal challenge through well - organized adventure sports competitions in the wild outdoors. To allow for life-changing experiences in safety and beauty while honoring the lands, respecting the traditions of native peoples.
Since 1997 Four Winds has produced multi-sport endurance events across the western US, wherever there's been big mountains and big water, big skies and big vistas.
Successfully permitting over 3500 miles of roads and trails, Four Winds continues its traditions of big beauty in launching The Sedona Marathon
in the world-famous naturally spectacular destination of Sedona, Arizona.
Four Winds has been based in Arizona since its earliest days, with events taking place all around the western US. Giving racers access to some of the most beautiful lands in America is another Four Winds tradition that lives on in the brilliant backdrop of Sedona. Enlarging the field to include half-marathoners and even 5K runners as part of the overall marathon event structure makes reaching a finish line in Sedona,s beautiful surrounds an achievable reality for many people also in keeping with Four Winds goals of making adventure sports events accessible so many people can meet their competetive goals and personal challenges successfully.
Simply stated, beautiful backdrop, exciting athletic event, challenging yet achievable, low impact environmentally, The Sedona Marathon follows in the traditions that Four Winds has established with athletes since 1997.
